SHOWS FOR SCHOOLS

Whether you want a show because you are studying either :

Or you want your children to experience a
AS
OR AS A
OR SIMPLY FOR
( It is allowed sometimes )

Whatever your reason, you will find a RICHARD COOMBS Punch & Judy Show fits the bill perfectly.

Of all the places I perform my show, I find the atmosphere in schools is simply the best.

That is because at a schools performance the children don't only laugh : they actually giggle too.

Perhaps only other performers -and teachers- will understand how truly joyous this is.

It happens not just because they are totally secure in their own environment, or because they are watching with their friends.

It is because they are seeing the show only with children of exactly the same age.

Out at a public show at a Fair or Village Fete, children of all ages sit together. There are bigger kids nearby who are more raucous and loud.

Certainly everyone enjoys themselves and has fun.

However, very special chemistry happens only during a Schools Show.

Not just for the Children, but for me too.

After the show I tell them all a bit about the History and Traditions of Punch and Judy.   Explaining how Joey the Clown and the Crocodile are quite recent additions to a show that is 362 years old.

And I show them a Slapstick up close, proving doesn't hurt the puppets.

It just makes a big noise.

And I take questions from the  teachers and children.

They ALWAYS want to know how the puppets are made.

And as I make my own, I am able to bring half finished puppets with me to show them exactly how.

I also have a set of child size carved wooden puppets for them to handle one on one.

They get to take these back to their home classroom and  play with them while I am dismantling and packing away the show in the Hall.

A  HUGE thank you to Rowley Park School for sending me this photograph to use.

In the set are five Mr. Punch puppets (with practical working legs),

five Judys, five Clowns, five Policemen and ten Crocodiles.

Because everyone wants to try out the crocodiles snap!

And of course there's lots of sausages too.
