SHOWS FOR SCHOOLS

Member of the UK's most Prestigious Guild of Performers.

I have opened up an additional week in APRIL due to popular demand.

Please note:
To be able to have a visit from Mr Punch, your school needs a continuous flat entrance from the car park. No steps.
There is usually at least one wheelchair entrance.
My show arrives in three castored units that can cope with ramps and slopes ...but absolutely not steps!
Thank You.

Naturally, I have up to date PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE and also a current DBS Check.

I also have some lovely REVIEWS.

As a teacher you may want your children to experience
a live
because you are studying either:

...OR SIMPLY FOR

It is allowed sometimes !

( Although it's nearly always for studying the Seaside..)
Whatever your reason, you will find a RICHARD COOMBS Punch & Judy Show
fits the bill perfectly.

Of all the varied places I perform my show, I find the atmosphere in schools to be the most fun and special.

That is because at a schools performance the children don't only laugh : they actually giggle too.

Perhaps only other performers -and teachers- will understand how truly joyous this is.

It happens not just because they are watching with their friends, or because they are in a familiar environment.
It is because they are seeing the show only with children of exactly the same age.

Because of that, I seldom take a booking to do a show for the entire school at once.
Much more preferable is performing to one year group on its own.
Or a combination of two sequential year groups together:

Reception and Nursery classes in one audience works well as they are all the little ones together.
I pitch the style of the show to be age appropriate.

Likewise Years 1 and 2 can watch together without spoiling the magic.
And Years 3 and 4, should you want a show for older children.
Subject to your requirements, we can have a show for any specific class or year-group. Or two separate shows with different ages at each.

Primary School YEAR TWO is the only year I offer the 'Package'
Because their craft skills are at the ideal stage to reap the benefit.

The choice is yours to have a Show only.
Or to go for what I call
THE 'SPECIAL PACKAGE'

THE 'SPECIAL PACKAGE'

1st
The Punch and Judy SHOW

So here is the "SPECIAL PACKAGE" I offer for KeyStage 1 : Year 2.

I arrive first thing and set up the Theatre in your Hall.
We have the show around 9.45 am

And I take questions from the teachers and children.

They ALWAYS want to know how the puppets are made.
And as I make my own, I am able to bring half finished puppets with me to show them exactly how.

2nd
Q&A session with half built puppets.

After the show I tell the children some of the Traditions & History of Punch and Judy. Explaining how Joey the Clown and the Crocodile are quite recent additions to a show that is 362 years old.
And I show them a Slapstick up close, proving doesn't hurt the puppets.
It just makes a big noise.

3rd
Hands on Puppet Play

My puppets are too big and heavy for children to handle, but I have a set of child size carved wooden puppets for them to handle one on one.
They get to take these back to their home classroom and play with them while I am dismantling and packing away the show in the Hall.

A HUGE thank you to Rowley Park School for sending me this photograph to use.

In the set are five Mr. Punch puppets (with practical working legs),
five Judys, five Clowns, five Policemen and ten Crocodiles.

Because everyone wants to try out the crocodiles snap!
And of course there's lots of sausages too.

A HUGE thank you to Rowley Park School for sending me this photograph to use.

Building the 3-D Model
4th
After Lunch I provide all the materials and tools for everyone to make a cardboard 3-D diorama of Mr Punches History.

The teacher and classroom assistants get to make one each too.

Everyone follows along as I lead them through the simple, yet rewarding and enjoyable build.

Every child takes home a model they have built themselves.

Here's another happy Year 2 teacher !

I also provide everyone with a sturdy carry bag to make it easy to take the model home at the end of the day.

The whole day is a quality experience that will give the children and teachers plenty of fuel for discussions and drawing and creative writing on subsequent days:
A Puppet Performance, hands on puppet play, and a craft project that will stretch their boundaries and leave them with a huge sense of achievement, and a palpable prize to take home to show their famillies.

Email me for the cost of this very special 'Package Deal'
