A novelty rod puppet with flowers that appear like magic from the top of his hat.
His 'excuse' to be in the shows that he says he is the Gardening Clown who planted and looks after the big flower display in front of the theatre.

FLOWER POWER CLOWN
He starts with a nice bit of recycling. A tall shampoo bottle and a plastic cone that once held overlocker sewing thread, become his inner 'core'.

Lightweight aluminium cooking foil is used to bulk out his silhouette .
A layer of Pulp first covers the foil.
Successive layers start to build up his facial features and hat brim.

Once a layer of Pulp has hardened over the plastic core, simple wooden features and a temporary hat brim are added.

Teeth always look a bit scary until they get lips sculpted around them.
With pulp everything is added layer by layer. Ears made separately, then joined.

A shoulder section of pulp and a wooden mount for the control rod are fixed on next.
Now we can see the reason the whole puppet is being sculpted over a hollow tube: A bouquet of magicians silk and feather flowers can pop out of his hat.

Final layer of pulp completes his face and improves the silhouette of his top hat.

Additional fabric collar fixed to the Pulp collar, to take the underbody.
Underbody garment made of geometric patterned cotton fabric strengthened with a couple of layers of iron on interfacing.

The main part of the outer costume is then glued to the Pulp collar, and sewn to the underbody all around the base hemline.
