Here is the design, created on my iPad in Procreate.
The plan is to change my Yellow proscenium to Blue, with additional side sculptures and three masks.
This is very far from the first time I will have sculpted a pair of Comedy & Tragedy masks.
As always the masks start with curved cardboard bases covered in pulp repellent electrical tape.
Next a layer of paper Pulp all over. Mouth & eyeholes come afterwards.
Sculpting with Pulp is always a layer by layer process.
This not only helps the thicker areas to fully dry, but also helps to refine the look.
THE NEW VERSION OF THE PROSCENIUM THESE ARE BEING MADE FOR SHOULD BE UNVEILED AT THE BOGNOR FESTIVAL IN SEPT 2026.
