This is truly planning ahead.
For the Summer 2026 Summer Season, I plan to present a real embarrassment of riches and feast for the eyes !
It will mean speed-building a whole army of new Clowns.
These wont be 'Joeys', he will always be one of the Stars of the Show, and its friendly compere.
These will be 'chorus' Clowns. Still sumptuous to look at and just as gorgeous as any of my Joeys - but with deceptively simpler costumes.
So right now in mid 2025, I'm just testing out some costume patterns to check that I can build them fast enough when the time comes.

It's all Joes fault !
Joe showed me a photo of a clown costume he had just made for David Wilde.
It's a copy of a period costume for an old Wal Kent head.
I don't make puppets or costumes for anyone else. But Joe is the 'go-to' chap if you want a new costume made for one of your new or period puppets.
To visit his website, and see his wonderful work, just click his photo.
Having seen Joes costume, this little doodle of a sketch gave me the idea to do a routine full of LOTS of Clowns.
That's one of the joys of being in the P&J CLUB :
We inspire each other.

These are builds done in late Spring 2025. This was to draw up and try out patterns for speed building of Rod and Glove Puppets in early 2026.
No more photos will get added until next year. But it would certainly be worth coming back for another look in Jan '26. Cheers Richard.

First thing to do is make a set of patterns.
I usually cut any cloth for puppet costumes freehand.

With so many clowns to make, patterns will speed things up.
I went very patriotic with this first costume.
Always nice to have for V.E and D-Day events and street parties.

The pattern seems to work well. I'm very happy with the result so far.
This Union Jack Clown is the first of many !

I am trying to get The BOX Clown
built in time for the 2025 Summer Season .
