The MUMMY

THIS SPOOKY PUPPET CAN ALSO BE USED ANY TIME OF YEAR INSTEAD OF MY REGULAR SKELETON GHOST.

As he will be a stick puppet, it's time to make the 'stick'.

Now the Spring weather has finally arrived, it's nice to be outside in the woodwork shed again.

I want him to raise his arms menacingly. This means making a simple mechanism.

I never set out to make a puppet of "The Mummy".

The truth is he is made from another head that went wrong.

This head was already looking far too scary for the character it was supposed to be.

Fortunately pulp is very easy to recycle and reuse.

He was a glove puppet, but I totally reworked him into a stick puppet.

The cut up face parts were first hot-glued onto a cardboard head and neck shaped core.

Pulp adheres to pulp extremely well.

So the sculpt layer consolidated the whole structure.

Next a sinewy neck structure was added with more pulp.

And I thought it would be fun to give hime a hole in his skull.

A very fast paint job, as I had my suspicions he might change colour later  -  and yes, he did!

PVA wood glue and fabric round his arms and control stick joints for extra strength.

LOTS MORE PICTURES AND INFO WILL BE ADDED TO THIS PAGE IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE

CHECK BACK AGAIN SOON      Cheers Richard.

Painting cotton fabric to make his bandages more colourful.

Building the inner tube that will hold the entire puppet together.

This tube 'body' includes the D-Ring he will hang up from inside the puppet theatre.

I hope you enjoy my website . I designed and built it myself using WIX
