JUBILEE JOEY the CLOWN
Made for Queen Elizabeths jubilee show in the Summer of 2022
But the head for this puppet was one I had made two years earlier in 2020.
On May 11th 2020 I heard the sad news of the passing of LES CLARKE.
Les was a lovely fellah , and did a wonderfully spirited Punch Show.
He was also fellow dabbler in the art of making heads in paper pulp.
Well....he finished a few, but experimented with loads !
His Flickr profile was full of photos of partly completed heads. I can relate to that !
Les was a really friendly chap, always happy to stop and chat at festivals and discuss puppet heads he was currently building. As soon a Is heard of his passing, I sketched this Joey head and began making it later that day. Making a puppet head in his memory seemed exactly the right thing to do.
